First Student is hiring immediately for a Diesel Mechanic for our shop serving Plymouth and the surrounding school districts!
As a Diesel Mechanic at First Student, you\’ll be a key player in keeping our classic yellow school buses safe and reliable for the children and communities who depend on us every day.

- Hourly wage of $32.00 – $36.50 per union contract (NOT flat-rate)
- ASE incentive of $0.25/hour for each relevant ASE earned (we pay for your training materials and exams!) – Six ASEs required within six months of hire
- Monday-Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm and 8:30 am -5:00 pm, full-time schedule

About the Diesel Mechanic Role:
At First Student, our Diesel Mechanics perform routine and complex maintenance to keep our school bus fleet road-ready. You\’ll use your expertise to diagnose and repair issues, ensuring maximum safety and reliability. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and repairing brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
- Completing and documenting work orders
- Assisting with mobile emergency services when needed
All Diesel Mechanics are subject to DOT drug testing as safety-sensitive employees. Please note that DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
You may be a great fit for the Diesel Mechanic position if:

- You have 3-5 years of experience working on automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
- You have a valid driver\’s license and are willing to obtain a CDL (we\’ll train you!)
