Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join our thriving nursery in SW17. As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the smooth daily operations of the nursery, providing exceptional care and education for children. You will lead and inspire the team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting a high-quality early years environment.

Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Management

  • Support the Nursery Manager in the overall day-to-day management of the nursery.
  • Act as the primary point of contact in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor the nursery team to deliver exceptional childcare and education.
  • Assist with staff development, training, and performance reviews.

Operational Duties

  • Ensure the nursery complies with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including OFSTED requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, safeguarding, and incident reports.
  • Monitor and manage staff rotas, ensuring appropriate coverage at all times.
  • Support with administrative tasks such as enrollment, parent communication, and budget management.

Childcare and Education

  • Deliver high-quality early years education in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Ensure all childrens individual needs are met, including those with SEND.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for childrens growth and development.

Parental Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers, ensuring regular communication about their childs progress.
  • Address any concerns or queries from parents professionally and effectively.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained at all times.
  • Implement robust safeguarding procedures to protect all children in your care.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and health and safety checks.

Qualifications and Experience:Essential:

  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Childcare or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an early years setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate.

Desirable:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years or management (or working towards).
  • Training in SEND, Makaton, or other inclusive practices.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in early years settings.
