First Step Trust is looking for a motivated and hands-on Catering Assistant to join our team within Rowan View, an NHS medium secure hospital. This is more than a catering role; it's an opportunity to support people in building confidence, developing workplace skills, and preparing for future employment.
Working alongside the Café Manager, you will help with the day-to-day running of the on-site café, serving freshly prepared food to staff and patients while supporting workforce members through practical on-the-job training.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Preparing and serving food including sandwiches, paninis, soups, and salads
- Supporting the smooth running of the café
- Delivering excellent customer service
- Supporting workforce members in developing catering and workplace skills
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and Health & Safety
- Cash handling and stock support
What We’re Looking For:
- Friendly, reliable, and approachable
- Positive with a can-do attitude
- Passionate about supporting others
- Organised and able to work in a busy environment
You will ideally have:
- Experience working in a catering or café environment
- Level 2 Food Safety qualification
- Good understanding of Health & Safety within catering
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience working within secure or healthcare settings is helpful but not essential.
