We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Active Care Lead and Active Care Assistant to oversee and assist at our Morning and After School Clubs. Staff deliver a variety of creative and play-based activities that inspire and entertain children aged 4–11 years, taking responsibility for the smooth running of the clubs, maintaining high standards of care and compliance, and fostering positive relationships with parents, children, and school staff.

The Company First Step Sports Group is a leading physical activity and training provider, collaborating with schools, local authorities, community groups, businesses, and individuals across the North of England. Based in Yorkshire, with an expanding network of experienced team members located across the region, the business is comprised of several divisions, each specialising in a different area of physical activity development and delivery: First Step Physical Education, First Step Training, First Step Cycle, Ballers, Active Care and Kids Takeover.

The Position calls for candidates who are creative and passionate about providing exceptional care. You will bring energy and imagination to every session, creating a safe and stimulating environment where children can learn, play, and thrive. We are looking for candidates who can inspire confidence in parents and excitement in children while ensuring the smooth running of both morning and after-school clubs. If you have childcare experience and a relevant qualification, and you love being creative and playful with children, this could be the perfect role for you.

£12.71 – £13.50 per hour DOE

Working Monday to Friday: 7:30am - 8:40am and Monday - Thursday 3:10pm - 5:30pm

Term-time only (with the opportunity of holiday work)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the Morning and After School Clubs.
  • Deliver an outstanding customer experience and act as the main point of contact for parents and carers.
  • Ensure the safeguarding and well-being of all children in your care.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and professionals to support every child’s development.
  • Manage queries and resolve complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Promote the clubs within the school and local community.
  • Prepare and serve a light breakfast/tea for children attending the Active Care sessions.
  • Manage the ordering or purchasing of food and supplies for the provision.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar environment (wraparound care/holiday clubs).
  • Experience in EYFS (planning activities & experience assisting an Out of School Club or Sport Club) - (Desirable).
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Level 2/3 childcare or Play-work qualification (Desirable).
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene (Training can be provided).
  • Be available five days a week (Mon-Fri).
  • First aid (Training can be provided).
