As a Cycle Instructor, you’ll support participants in our cycle training programmes, helping them build confidence, develop essential skills, and achieve their cycling goals.

The Position
Are you motivated by the opportunity to teach the next generation of cyclists? Do you have what it takes to instil confidence in budding bikers? We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable cyclists to join our team and deliver fun, safe, and engaging Bikeability training. You’ll work both independently and as part of a team, delivering high-quality sessions in schools and community settings. This is a flexible casual role and sessions are delivered between 8am – 3pm, the hours are typically 9 – 20 hours per week.
*Full training is provided, including the nationally recognised 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training (T&Cs apply).
Responsibilities
- Deliver National Standard Cycle Training as organised by First Step Sports
- Load and transport equipment to training sessions
- Complete course paperwork (registers, assessments, reports)
- Conduct risk assessments for trainees, bikes, and training environments
- Ensure the safety and welfare of all trainees and colleagues
- Promote cycling as a safe, healthy, and enjoyable activity
- Represent First Step Sports professionally and wear the company uniform
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
Essential:
- A regular and confident cyclist
- Good understanding of road and traffic environments
- Strong communication skills with children, parents, and schools
- Ability to maintain discipline, inspire confidence, and encourage learners
Desirable (but not essential)
- Driving licence
- First Aid and Child Protection training
- Basic cycle maintenance knowledge
