We are recruiting for an Assistant Compliance Manager to join a leading FMCG business based in Lancing. In this role, you’ll support the Compliance Manager in driving the Quality and Compliance function, ensuring products meet all regulatory, ethical, and technical standards. This position requires strong technical compliance knowledge, excellent project and people management skills, and the ability to work effectively across a global supply chain.
As Assistant Compliance Manager, you will act as deputy to the Compliance Manager, including supporting their responsibilities as FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) Manager. The role spans hardlines, food gifting, cosmetics and gifting categories, with close involvement across UK and Hong Kong teams.
As an Assistant Compliance Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting end‑to‑end product compliance across UK, EU and international markets
- Reviewing technical files, test reports and product safety documentation
- Overseeing quality checks, factory inspections and supplier assessments
- Supporting supplier onboarding and ongoing performance reviews
- Deputising for the Compliance Manager, including FSC CoC responsibilities and audits
- Managing non‑conformances, investigations and continuous improvement activity
- Leading and supporting cross‑functional compliance and quality projects
- Managing and developing the Product Technologists and QA Administrator
- Tracking project progress and reporting on delivery timelines
- Providing clear compliance guidance and training to internal teams
Requirements for the Assistant Compliance Manager:
- 3+ years’ experience in compliance, quality assurance, or a regulated consumer product environment
- Strong technical knowledge across food gifting, cosmetics, and gifting categories
- Understanding of UK, EU, and international product safety regulations
- Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience supporting certification audits (FSC, ISO, or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
