Accounts & IT Assistant 40 hours per week (potential for 32 hours if required) MUST drive due to location About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Accounts & IT Assistant to support the day-to-day finance operations of a residential care home and charitable organisation. This role is responsible for the daily management of the general ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, fixed assets and cashiering functions. The successful candidate will also support the production of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, annual budgets and audit requirements. Key Responsibilities Sales & Purchase Ledger * Ensure all purchase invoices and expenses are accurately posted to the purchase ledger and general ledger, appropriately authorised and paid within agreed terms (approximately 40 invoices per week). * Ensure all monthly resident invoices are raised accurately and within strict deadlines using the care home's administration platform. Management Accounts, Registers & Reporting * Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations relating to resident recoverable expenses and internal recharges. * Assist with the day-to-day operation of the general ledger and accounting systems. * Assist departmental managers in understanding expenditure, budget performance and key variances. Banking * Prepare and set up payments through the online banking system (without authorisation responsibility). * Ensure all cash receipts and payments are processed accurately and recorded correctly within the accounting system. General and Ad Hoc Duties * Provide information and reports as requested by senior management. * Undertake additional duties to support the care home, charitable activities and wider organisation. * Contribute to the effective operation of the finance function and organisational objectives. Person Specification Qualifications Essential * Part-qualified CIMA or ACCA, or fully qualified AAT. Desirable * Currently studying towards, or willing to undertake, a professional accounting qualification. Skills and Competencies Essential * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including: * Lookup functions * Pivot tables * Advanced formulae * Data manipulation and analysis Experience Essential * Minimum of two years' experience working within an accounts department.
