This role is available due to strong company growth levels along with continued expansion and will be based in the West Midlands head office (Stourbridge) Fire Alarm Small Works Manager Full time permanent role Monday – Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 9am to 4pm Salary – very competitive / negotiable, depending on experience plus excellent all round company benefits. The role – Fire Alarm Small Works Manager My client are the UK’s class-leading supplier of fire detection and fire protection systems. They design, install, and maintain all types of automatically operating fire extinguishing systems and electronically activated fire detection and alarm systems for large projects through to servicing small standalone products. They currently have over 200 employees and have offices throughout the UK. As a Small Works Manager, you would have overall responsibility for the successful estimation and execution of fire detection and alarm system installations, additions and modifications within the fire detection and electrical department of the company, working within the framework of the company operating procedures. * The role is to be based from the Head Office in Stourbridge, West Midlands * Regular requirement to attend site surveys and projects sites, UK wide * Occasional requirement to work away from home for periods of time Duties / Responsibilities include: Managing enquires from initial stages through surveying, estimating, design, procurement, installation and commissioning through to completion and handover of the Ensuring all plans, drawings, time-lines, schedules, monitoring, checking, paperwork and testing is completed at each stage. Responsible for project quality standards, documentation and records and preparing commissioning, and operating and maintenance documentation. Overall responsibility for the financial status and control of costs throughout each contract. Produce month financial costing reports and manage sub-contractor and supplier invoicing. Managing overall Health & Safety matters on the project Prepare estimate and proposal documents/letters Prepare accurate cost sheets Prepare detailed risk assessments and method statements within the project frame-work and legislation. Prepare internal and external project progress Prepare detailed vendor and sub-contractor specifications Collaborate closely with team members of the project to ensure a smooth and integrated process Attend internal and client meetings Essential Skills and Qualifications Strong experience within the fire alarm and detection system industry or other electrically based systems, ideally within the industrial construction sector. Excellent knowledge of fire detection products and system sales, estimating design, installation and commissioning. Excellent knowledge of BS5839: 2017, BS6266:2011, BS7273, BS8519:2020 Good working knowledge of IEE 18th Edition of the Electrical Installation Regulations Good working knowledge of necessary interfaces with mechanical water-based fire protection systems, plant shutdown signals and gas-based fire suppression Ability to effectively use IT related software including MS Outlook, MS Office (Word and Excel etc) and MS Project would be an advantage (or alternative planning software). Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors.
