Overview
Reporting to the Senior Materials Manager, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end management of materials, equipment, and storage facilities supporting the construction phase of a major Carbon Capture project.
The role will oversee the operation of an off-site warehouse, on-site warehouse, container yard, and multiple external laydown areas, ensuring efficient and controlled material flow to meet demanding construction schedules. This is a critical position focused on maintaining material availability, safeguarding asset integrity, and preventing delays during a high-intensity, schedule-driven project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards across all warehouse and laydown locations.
- Lead and manage warehouse personnel across both site and off-site facilities.
- Support the development and implementation of the Material Management Execution Plan.
- Establish and maintain warehouse and laydown processes aligned to construction-phase requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with the Materials Management System (ERM), maintaining accurate inventory data and warehouse configuration records.
- Manage the receipt, inspection, documentation, storage, preservation, and issuance of construction materials and equipment.
- Ensure safe and secure storage of materials, including segregation of ferrous, non-ferrous, and hazardous materials where required.
- Maintain strict control of materials issued to subcontractors and construction teams in line with project schedules.
- Implement consistent inventory management and preservation standards across all storage locations, ensuring full traceability.
- Coordinate internal transport and lifting activities between warehouses, laydown areas, and construction work fronts.
- Support just-in-time delivery strategies to minimise site congestion and material handling.
- Proactively identify and communicate potential material shortages, damage, discrepancies, or delivery delays.
- Ensure compliance with lifting regulations, traffic management requirements, and manual handling procedures.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager, Materials Manager, or similar role on large-scale construction projects.
- Experience within sectors such as Energy, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Infrastructure, Industrial Construction, or CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation & Storage).
- Strong understanding of construction material logistics, warehousing operations, and workfront support.
- Experience managing multiple warehouse and laydown locations simultaneously.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within site-based project environments.
- Strong knowledge of materials management systems, processes, and inventory controls.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead teams, drive performance, and deliver results in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Experience developing and implementing operational procedures and processes.
Desirable
- Formal qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehousing, or a related discipline.
- Additional Materials Management qualifications or certifications.
- Previous experience working on Carbon Capture, Energy Transition, or major EPC projects.
