Our client is currently looknig to hire a qualified and experienced Group Accountant for a short term project based from their Manchester office.

  • Job Title: Group Accountant
  • Duration: 3 Months with potential extension
  • Day Rates: Competitive depending on experience - Inside IR35
  • Location: Greater Manchester
  • Hybrid working: 2 Days in the Office - 3 Days from Home

The Role

The Group Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth migration of group companies from Xero and Business Central to Sage 200.

The role will ensure that business can continue seamlessly as part of the move to the new system, ensuring integrity of data, accurate reporting and strong governance.

You will support in ensuring that the benefits of all companies being on the one platform is maximised, enabling accurate and timely consolidation of accounts, consistent controls and reconciliations and the ability to report divisionally.

The role will also support in the documentation of work instructions and quick reference forms, to support staff in getting up to speed and using Sage 200.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support with the migration from Xero and Business Central to Sage 200.
  • Develop a consolidation schedule for consolidating all Group companies.
  • Develop monthly reporting pack which compares actuals to budget.
  • Develop control account reconciliations to be completed as part of the month end process.
  • Draft training documentation to support users in using the Sage 200 system.
  • Support in the transition to the new lease accounting model under FRS 102.
  • Deliver reporting to produce statutory account disclosures with a clear audit trail.
  • Support the Group Reporting and Transformation Manager in ensuring that Sage 200 strengthens financial governance across the business.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of Sage 200 accounting system
  • Preparation of management accounts
  • Experience preparing group accounts or consolidations
  • Preparation of statutory accounts
  • Strong technical accounting skills and interest in technical standards
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Desirable

  • Experience working in a high‑growth or evolving environment
  • Experience supporting integration during M&A

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant: ACMA, ACCA, ICAEW or ICAS
