A Section Engineer is required to work on a 6 month contract basis based in Testwood, Southampton that will provide the flexibility to work outside IR35.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Liaise between different site disciplines to ensure effective planning and use of project resources.
- Implement the relevant requirements of the CSJV Site Procedures for Quality, Safety and Environment within their area of responsibility.
- Ensure that their staff receive or have access to safety and environmental management systems and policies and are kept informed of all developments and issues.
- Ensure that the staff receive suitable training appropriate to their roles and requirements of the safety and environmental Procedures and management systems.
- Complete regular site inspections and improve SHE site standards.
- Manage and co-ordinate the site logistics with site engineers, Work Managers, and sub-contractors to ensure the layout of site works with all logistical functions, so as not to impede the construction programme.
- Develop 4-weekly Logistics drawings in line with the sub-contractor programmes with site engineer.
- Create simple 2D drawings that clearly display the haul routes, walkway, access stairs, Power, water, etc.
- Integrate with sub-contractors to review at weekly site logistics, provide briefings in progress meetings to sub-contractors of site changes and proposed logistics layouts.
- Manage and co-ordinate the critical activities for the hand back of EBT with site engineers to ensure all setting-out and quality control procedures are performed in a timely and efficient manner, so as not to impede the construction programme.
- Develop 4-weekly programmes with site engineer and simple benchmark productivity measures for the workforce and assess actual programme and productivity achieved for review at weekly.
Person Specification
- Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HNC in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering.
- Understanding of Engineering Principles.
- Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
- Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system).
- CAD competent.
- Relevant CSCS Card.
- Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management.
- Presentation Skills Training (as they deliver inductions / briefings etc).
Desirable:
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- ICE Training agreement.
- Computer competence (Sypol COSHH database, SSPS Intranet database).
- Vocational Training (successful experience at engineer level).
