New Job Opportunity – Senior Offshore Structures Engineer – 12 Month Outside IR35 Contract
Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Offshore Structures Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis fully remote.
Contract Length: 12 Months
Location: Fully Remote (Offices in Basingstoke, UK)
Engagement: Outside IR35 or PAYE (both considered)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Offshore Structural Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for the execution, review, and approval of structural analyses and designs for offshore substructures and topsides across all project phases, from concept through to operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analyses for offshore substructures and topsides.
- Define and evaluate optimal technical solutions during all project stages (feasibility, FEED, detailed design).
- Review and approve technical documentation and analyses prepared by contractors or other team members.
- Prepare sketches, concept designs, and feasibility studies.
- Collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines throughout project execution.
- Produce and review technical documentation related to structural design across conceptual, FEED, tender, detailed engineering, and operational phases.
- Contribute to tender preparation and evaluation (qualifications, clarifications, recommendations) for structural aspects.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company HSEQ policies.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Degree in Civil, Offshore, Structural, or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering (with a focus on structures).
- Proven experience in structural design across all project phases (feasibility, FEED, detailed engineering, and operations).
- Strong background in the analysis and design of offshore structures to ISO 1900 series, API RP2A, AISC, and DNV standards.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in software such as DNVGL SESAM Suite, USFOS, ANSYS, SACS, and STAAD.
- Ability to create and verify FEM models of fixed offshore structures (jackets and topsides) for in-place and temporary conditions.
- Experience in foundation system design (e.g., piles, mud mats).
- Expertise in nonlinear analyses (blast, dropped objects, impact, redundancy, pushover).
- Familiarity with offshore structural materials, fabrication, installation, and floater design.
- Experience in brownfield redesign, life extension assessments, and reliability analyses.
Soft Skills:
- Strong engineering judgement with the ability to solve complex problems independently.
- Effective collaboration in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to innovate and propose practical technical solutions.
