Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to join our client’s team. With Hybrid working available you can be based in London, Manchester, Leeds or Cardiff. This role involves working independently while also guiding junior team members. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in drainage design and a solid background in civil engineering, with a particular focus on sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and flood management.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of drainage schemes, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.
- Prepare technical drawings for planning applications and tender packages using AutoCAD.
- Prepare detailed specifications for drainage and transportation projects.
- Develop hydraulic calculations and hydraulic profiles for surface water management.
- Provide technical expertise in sustainable drainage management and flood management.
- Work on Local Authority and/or National Highways projects, ensuring the highest standards of delivery.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Key Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional membership (Chartered or working towards Chartered status) or Incorporated status.
- Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety (H&S) legislation.
- Proficiency with drainage modelling software, including MicroDrainage.
- Experience delivering drainage and/or transportation projects at various stages.
- Confident communicator with proven interpersonal skills and the ability to produce accurate, well-written reports.
- Understanding of DMRB, UK rail standards, SuDS Manual, and other relevant standards.
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in highway and drainage design, as well as project construction.
