An experienced Risk Manager is required to support a highly sensitive, large-scale infrastructure programme. The role provides end-to-end ownership of risk management across a defined workstream, ensuring threats and opportunities are identified, assessed and managed to protect delivery outcomes. The postholder will work closely with senior stakeholders and parallel risk leads to maintain alignment across the wider programme. The programme operates within a complex, live operational environment with multiple interdependencies and strict delivery constraints. The successful candidate will be comfortable working at pace, applying structured risk management techniques while maintaining focus on programme objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Own and maintain the risk profile for a defined workstream or tranche within a wider programme, ensuring alignment with overall programme risk strategy.
- Plan and lead regular risk review sessions, including facilitation of workshops, documentation of outputs and production of routine risk reporting and dashboards.
- Maintain a live risk and opportunity register, ensuring risks are clearly articulated, proportionate and actively managed.
- Support teams in developing practical mitigation and response plans and ensure ownership is clearly assigned.
- Review the risk portfolio to remove duplication, challenge relevance and ensure the volume of risks remains meaningful and actionable.
- Monitor mitigation actions and report on effectiveness, trends and residual exposure.
- Contribute to quantitative risk activities, including schedule and cost risk modelling, and support periodic reporting outputs for senior governance forums.
- Lead the management of assumptions and dependencies relevant to the risk baseline, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Provide a clear, time-phased view of risk exposure to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Build strong, trusted relationships across the programme, encouraging collaboration and maintaining delivery momentum.
- Engage with delivery partners and suppliers to monitor performance across cost, schedule and quality, addressing emerging risks early.
- Ensure compliance with agreed governance, assurance and infrastructure delivery processes.
