Role: Junior Cost Engineer

Rate: Inside IR35

Location: Glasgow (3 days a week)

Must be eligible for SC Clearance

We are seeking a detail orientated individual to support the cost team of the Project Controls department. Working closely with the Cost Engineer, this role will involve assisting with all aspects of cost control including budgets, spend, forecasting and reporting.

The Junior Cost Engineer role will involve working between the various cost systems, with involvement at all stages in the Programme Lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To work with the Cost Engineer and Project Managers to provide informed forecasts for the Programme.
  • Collaborate with the Programme Planners to ensure forecasts are aligned to the schedule.
  • Assist with reviewing and tracking costs and forecasts to demonstrate continued affordability.
  • Assist with the production of cost reporting outputs in a timely manner for month end reporting, inputting into all relevant internal financial systems.
  • Attend monthly supplier meetings with other team members and carry out associated contract administration as required, via CEMAR.
  • Raise purchase requisitions and receipt invoices within the relevant internal system.
  • Assess and check invoices and valuations and provide advice to Project Managers to resolve invoice queries.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to communicate detailed / complex information to peers/project managers/stakeholders in a way that is understood by all.
  • Understanding of cost engineering functions, cost control and cost analysis.
  • Detail-oriented and organised, with experience of identifying, analysing, and solving problems.
  • Good presentation and reporting skills.
  • Extensive experience in cost control is not expected for this role, however some exposure to either cost management or another aspect of project controls should be demonstrated.

Desirable Skills:

  • Diploma level educated.
  • Working towards relevant Professional Membership, if not already held.
  • CEMAR and/or NEC4 experience.
