Principal Electrical Engineer
Reading Area – Hybrid Working

Based in Reading, with periodic visits to Stockton-on-Tees office as required by the project.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation or Control Engineering
- 15+ years experience in engineering design within the nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, mechanical handling or water industries.
- Experience in multi-discipline teams, coordinating activities with other disciplines and engineering departments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly and develop innovative solutions.
- Engineering leadership skills to provide technical direction and oversee work completed by senior and junior engineers.
- Ability to manage and progress work independently with limited intervention from engineering management.
- Strong communication skills to develop documentation using appropriate technical language.
- Good presentation and communication skills when interacting with clients.
Essential Task Experience
- In-depth knowledge of British Standards and regulations applicable to electrical system design.
- Specification of MV/LV Transformers, including validating Vendor designs at Vendor design and FAT stages.
- Specification of GI/GNI distribution systems, including validating Vendor designs at Vendor design and FAT stages.
- Input to mechanical/process/machine specifications from an electrical perspective.
- Production of electrical engineering deliverables, including calculations, load schedules, cable sizing calculations, electrical equipment data sheets, reports, and technical bid evaluations.
- Guide designers in producing electrical drawings including SLDs, schematics, specifications, models, datasheets, reports, and evaluations.
- Proficient in power modelling software (e.g., Trimble, SKM Powertools).
- Knowledge of schedule constraints and information requirements from other disciplines for producing electrical deliverables.
Complementary Task Experience
- Understanding of Human Factors in engineering design.
- Experience in producing or contributing to 3D engineering models.
Will need to be able to gain SC Clearance.
