Are you an experienced CAD Designer with a strong background within the subsea sector and looking to step up into your next role? This role could be for you!
A Principal CAD Designer is required on a permanent staff basis to be based in London that will provide a hybrid working set up of 4 days per week in the office and 1 day per week working from home.
What will you be doing?
- Prepare design/fabrication drawings of steel structures and piping using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software.
- Under broad direction assign, oversee, check and approve the work of a team on a project or in the Drawing Office.
- Provide focal point for all project communication and activities and ensure the delivery of quality work and services in line with project plans.
- Identify and communicate project resource requirements to the Deputy Discipline Manager or Discipline Manager.
- Assess project resource requests and provide feedback on feasibility in terms of deliverables and timescales given resources available.
- Independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work for self and others.
- Participate in technical audits of projects and studies.
- Actively participate in relevant training and development to pursue continuing professional development.
- Help to guide, train, and develop more junior personnel.
- Participate in reviews and development of departmental procedures and work methods.
- Assist Fabrication as required in the resolution of construction difficulties relating to design problems, clashes, etc.
- Provide input for project CTR estimates for project drafting team when required.
- Interface with project discipline leads to ensure CAD deliverable schedule is being met and budget is on track.
- Ensure project team comply with company QA and HSE procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring that design services comply with company standards and processes in line with appropriate legislation.
- Manage internal and external Drawing Office project interfaces.
What experience would we like you to have?
- Technical education related to mechanical or structural engineering.
- Relevant previous design and drafting experience in producing subsea structural fabrication within the Marine and/or Oil and Gas industry, including work at Lead/Senior level.
- Ability to assign, oversee, check, and approve the work of a team on a project or in the department.
- Ability to prioritize own workload and manage time accordingly to meet time/budget constraints.
- Produces work of presentable quality.
- Well versed in industry codes, standards, and design guidelines.
- Advanced experience in the use of Autodesk Inventor.
- Proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Good working knowledge of other non-technical software e.g. MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Sound communication skills in English, both verbally and written.
Desirable Experience, Skills and Knowledge
- Prepare offshore installation method sketches, deck layouts, installation aids and rigging drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD software.
- Prepare field layout, approach drawings and alignment sheets using Autodesk AutoCAD or Autodesk Civil 3D software.
- Experience in Autodesk Inventor iLogic.
- Experience in Offshore Wind installation/structures.
- Experience with Autodesk Vault for data (drawings/models) management.
