Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced NEC Site Supervisor to support the NEC Project Manager, ensuring that construction works are carried out to the highest standards of quality and compliance. The role involves witnessing tests and inspections, monitoring contractor performance, and ensuring works align with the NEC Contract, Works Information, and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a regular presence on site, independently scrutinising works to confirm correct materials and standards are used.
- Anticipate potential issues and take proactive steps to prevent them.
- Manage and record defects that arise during construction.
- Attend and contribute to progress meetings.
- Issue communications as required under the NEC contract.
- Produce clear, timely reports (weekly/fortnightly/monthly) documenting work progress with supporting site photographs.
- Exercise authority to issue instructions for defect searches.
- Issue the Defects Certificate at the end of the Defects Correction Period.
Skills & Experience Required
Extensive civil engineering background with experience as:
- Inspector
- Clerk of Works
- Design Site Representative (within contractors, design consultants, or local authorities)
- Strong track record supervising complex, multi-disciplined projects in highways, transportation, and civil engineering.
In-depth knowledge of:
- NEC Contracts
- Specification for Highway Works (SHW)
- Material testing requirements
