We are currently seeking experienced Senior and Principal EICA Engineers to support the delivery of major UK water infrastructure projects across a range of long-term water frameworks. This contract opportunity offers flexible hybrid working, allowing you to work remotely while attending the Manchester office and UK project sites as required.
The Role
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will provide Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (EICA) engineering expertise across the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to construction and commissioning support. Candidates must have a strong background delivering EICA solutions within the UK water sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce cost-effective EICA designs that meet technical specifications and project requirements
- Develop outline and detailed electrical, instrumentation and control designs
- Carry out site surveys and technical assessments
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and prepare technical reports
- Review and approve engineering documentation and design deliverables
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards and legislation
- Prepare equipment and material requisitions for EICA systems
- Develop installation scopes of work
- Review supplier quotations and undertake technical bid assessments
- Support construction, installation and commissioning activities
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers (Principal level)
- Interface with clients, project teams and stakeholders throughout project delivery
Essential Experience
- Significant experience delivering UK water industry projects
- Minimum 10 years' experience in Electrical, Control, Instrumentation or Automation Engineering
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
- Strong understanding of EICA design and installation practices within the water sector
- Knowledge of UK legislation, regulations and standards including WIMES
- Experience with hazardous area installations and explosive atmospheres
- Understanding of CE marking requirements, including: ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, EMC Compliance
- Experience supporting site installation and commissioning activities
- Strong understanding of risk management and HSE requirements
Principal Engineer Candidates Will Ideally Have
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Responsibility for technical governance and design approvals
- Proven ability to manage design delivery across complex water projects
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
