The Tax Adviser will support the UK tax function under the supervision of the Tax Manager. Responsibilities include preparing direct and indirect tax compliance, providing integrated tax advice, coordinating with internal and external teams, responding to HMRC enquiries, and supporting quarterly reporting. The role also involves maintaining effective tax controls across the supply chain and contributing to broader tax planning and optimisation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit tax returns and compliance filings accurately and on time.
- Optimise reliefs and allowances for VAT, EU Sales List, other indirect taxes, and Corporation Tax.
- Provide technical input for HMRC enquiries and CTSA matters.
- Calculate current and deferred taxes, prepare tax journals, and reconcile tax figures in line with Eni reporting requirements.
- Support VAT returns, indirect tax reconciliations, and customs matters.
- Prepare final Corporation Tax claims, surrenders, and review PRT decisions and CT assessments.
- Assist with audits and half-year/year-end tax reviews.
- Support tax planning, corporate optimisation, and reorganisation projects.
- Maintain relationships with fiscal authorities and coach colleagues within the Tax team.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environment requirements, the Eni Code of Ethics, and Law 231 principles.
- Undertake ad hoc duties as required.
Skills and Experience Required
- University degree or equivalent qualification.
- Professional tax qualification (ATT or equivalent) is recommended.
- Strong knowledge of the upstream oil and gas sector and associated tax risks.
- Solid understanding of UK tax, particularly decommissioning issues.
- Ability to translate complex tax matters into clear, commercial guidance.
- Proficiency in SAP, Excel, Word, and OneSource tax software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, and organisational skills.
- Flexibility to work under pressure and occasional overtime or weekends as required.
