Do you have a strong background within Subcontracts and are on the lookout for your next opportunity? A Subcontracts Manager is required to work on a permanent staff basis for a large Energy company that will offer the flexibility to work on a hybrid set up of 3 days in the office per week and 2 days working from home per week.
As the Subcontracts Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper award and contractual execution of the subcontracted activities (mainly related to construction on a specific proposal or project). With the support of subcontract engineers, you will implement effective subcontracting management systems, methods and procedures for cost and contractual matters at the office or project level.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate in the subcontracting management strategy development.
- Implement and perform subcontracting management process (including prime contract flows down, procedures issuance, bidder long list, master bid package, construction manhours estimate, and evaluation of subcontractors).
- Perform negotiation, formation and award of formal subcontracts.
- Ensure administration of subcontracts (change orders and back-charges management, invoicing, contractual letters) until subcontracts’ closeout.
- Protect company from claims, disputes, and arbitration.
- Ensure formal assessment of the subcontractors’ performance.
- Ensure proper handling of subcontracts, support documentation and related files.
- Ensure that technical and commercial negotiation evaluations and strategies are carried out promptly.
- Manage & monitor the performance of the team.
- Prepare and provide status and variance reports, estimates/budgets, and risk mitigation plans.
Typical Background and Experience Required:
- 5 to 10 years experience in subcontracting activities.
- BSc., University degree in any of the main Legal, Business, Construction or Engineering branches, i.e., Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with NEC/IChemE Forms of Contract and other applicable codes and standards (CDM, NAECI, UK construction laws).
- Engineer grade, understanding the technical disciplines (civil, piping, equipment, electrical, instrumentation).
- Rigorous, autonomous, open-minded, agile, and flexible.
- Good interpersonal and influential skills.
