Our Client is working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join them, you can play your part as a Senior Shielding Consultant at any of the nationwide hubs.
The role:
- As a Senior Shielding Consultant, you will assume a technical lead role within engineering projects, performing shielding modelling and delivering associated calculations and reports to Our Client's customers across Civil Nuclear and Defence.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relations with customers, colleagues, and Our Client's other departments.
- Work within multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring consistent approaches are adopted and timely support provided to all relevant project stakeholders.
- Author shielding reports and related calculation notes, and verify others' work.
- Supervise the work of junior technical specialists within the same discipline.
- Manage delivery of tasks undertaken within their agreed Delegation of Authority (DOA) against cost and programme to the satisfaction of Key Stakeholders.
- Ensure effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business and resolution of technical and delivery issues.
The role is adaptable and can be based near one of our UK hubs, including Leicester, Warrington, Bristol etc., with a hybrid working arrangement of four days per week working from home and one day per week from the office, dependent on business needs and/or the requirement to attend meetings onsite.
Essential experience:
- Excellent working knowledge of radiation transport codes, particularly Monte Carlo codes MCBEND and/or MCNP.
- Experience working on major projects in a shielding technical lead role.
Desirable experience:
- Working knowledge of the SCALE suite of codes (particularly for fuel inventory and neutron activation analysis).
- Experience working with Point Kernel codes (RANKERN and/or Microshield).
Qualifications:
- Degree in a relevant scientific or engineering technical discipline.
