One of our top Nuclear clients are looking for a Mechanical QA/QC Inspector to join their team. Our Client has a requirement for a Mechanical QA/QC Inspector, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Reading.

Role Purpose

QC Inspectors are responsible for providing independent Quality Control and weld inspection services across a range of nuclear mechanical disciplines. Services are provided at vendors', potential vendors' or other participating entities' premises and locations.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with both internal and external Customers.
  • Deliver independent inspection and quality control services at operating sites and vendors relating to new equipment in manufacture, fabrication and construction.
  • Review of fabrication / manufacturing documentation within delegated authority levels in terms of quality plans, ITPs, fabrication / manufacturing procedures, welding procedures, NDE procedures, compilation and review of LTQRs.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications

  • Have a good working knowledge of UK requirements for Inspection within the nuclear industry or transferable experience from another high hazard industry.
  • Experience and understanding or the ability to learn nuclear and conventional codes and standards relating to pressure equipment and pressure systems including EN13445, EN13480, PD5500, ASME VIII plus associated material. Welding and NDE standards.
  • Be able to demonstrate a proactive, self-motivated approach to technical and non-technical work.
  • Have experience of managing a range of stakeholders and will be able to demonstrate a successful track record of influencing and negotiating, particularly in technical discussions relating to Inspection.
  • Have good technical writing and communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of the Customers quality requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in the inspection of Welded fabrications / manufactured equipment for nuclear and conventional power generation applications.
  • Sound understanding and qualification where necessary in Materials, Welding and NDT.
