Powering the future of energy — lead the charge on a landmark gas storage project. Our client is seeking an accomplished Project Manager to oversee a major gas storage project from FEED through to completion. This opportunity will play a pivotal role in delivering an infrastructure project central to the UK's energy resilience and sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the planning and implementation of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and regulatory frameworks.
  • Drive the current project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans, milestones, and resource allocations.
  • Track project budgets, monitor expenditures, and provide regular financial updates to stakeholders.
  • Work with internal teams and external contractors to facilitate safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, managing scope changes effectively.
  • Monitor and report on progress, preparing regular status reports and communicating progress, issues, and corrective actions to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with site engineering standards, statutory safety regulations (HSE), and quality assurance protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Promote collaboration and effective communication among engineering, operations, commercial, and support teams for a successful project outcome.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical) ideally with Chartered status.
  • Professional Project Management Certification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2).
  • Membership of a professional institution (e.g., IChemE, IMechE, etc.).
  • Over 5 years' proven experience managing engineering projects within industry (e.g., gas sector, manufacturing, operations).
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, processes, and project management methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Skilled in project management tools including MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage and align stakeholders across all project phases.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certificate (or equivalent).
  • Project Quality Assurance Requirements and Process knowledge.
  • Experience co-ordinating cross-functional teams.
