We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Civil Inspector for a long-term infrastructure and construction project based in Reading. This is a 12-month rolling contract opportunity, offering long-term stability and the ability to work outside IR35.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections and verification of civil construction works including earthworks, foundations, drainage, structural concrete, and steelwork.
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
- Review and verify contractor documentation, method statements, and ITPs.
- Witness and document key construction activities such as concrete pours, reinforcement placement, formwork erection, and civil finishes.
- Identify and report non-conformances and support resolution and corrective actions.
- Liaise closely with engineering, quality, and construction teams to ensure timely inspection and sign-off of works.
- Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, daily reports, and photographic evidence.
- Support QA/QC audits and walkdowns as required.
- Ensure site work is carried out with strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a civil inspection role on large-scale industrial, nuclear, defence, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes, and relevant civil engineering codes and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary site team.
- SC clearance is advantageous; candidates must be eligible for clearance.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
