- Main Purpose
The Project Quality Control Engineer will carry out inspection activities and support the Quality Team to ensure compliance with project, customer and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Control & Inspection
- Liaise with customers on quality and inspection requirements.
- Review supplier quality documentation, including QCPs, weld schedules and NDT procedures.
- Attend supplier kick-off meetings and coordinate inspection activities.
- Produce inspection assignments and liaise with customer inspectors.
- Conduct risk assessments and perform equipment inspections.
- Witness NDT, functional testing and other inspection activities.
- Review inspection records and quality documentation.
- Produce inspection reports and support final release of procured items.
- Project Quality Support
- Advise project teams on quality control and inspection matters.
- Participate in project, review and handover meetings.
- Prepare project quality documentation, procedures and work instructions.
- Support compliance with QMS, ISO 9001 and HSE requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality standards are met.
- Knowledge & Experience
- Good understanding of the Nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing, fabrication, welding and inspection processes.
- Experience with Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Experience in assembly, testing, mechanical inspection and material certification review.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Customer-focused with a proactive and analytical approach.
- Ability to work independently and within project teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong reporting, documentation and organisational skills.
- Committed to continuous improvement and health & safety.
Qualifications
- HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline (preferred).
- CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level 2 Weld Inspection qualification.
- NDT qualifications and auditor training are advantageous.
