Overview:
Our Client is currently seeking an experienced Lead Construction Planner to join a major carbon capture project based in Padeswood, North Wales. This is a key leadership role responsible for developing, managing, and driving the integrated construction schedule throughout the construction phase of the project, ensuring successful delivery of a complex industrial decarbonisation programme.
The successful candidate will work closely with project management, engineering, procurement, contractors, and in particular, the site construction teams to ensure planning excellence, schedule integrity, and effective progress control across all phases of the works.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and management of the overall construction schedule for a large-scale carbon capture project.
- Produce and maintain detailed Level 3 and Level 4 schedules using Primavera P6.
- Interface with engineering, procurement, commissioning, and construction teams to ensure alignment of project milestones and deliverables.
- Develop construction sequencing, work packaging strategies, and execution plans.
- Monitor contractor performance against baseline schedules and identify schedule risks, delays, and recovery opportunities.
- Conduct critical path analysis and provide proactive mitigation and recovery planning.
- Prepare weekly and monthly planning reports, progress updates, and schedule performance metrics for senior stakeholders.
- Facilitate planning meetings, progress reviews, and look-ahead planning sessions with contractors and project teams.
- Support change management processes by assessing schedule impacts associated with variations and scope changes.
- Ensure compliance with project controls procedures, governance standards, and reporting requirements.
- Mentor and support junior planners and planning engineers where required.
Qualifications:
Candidate Requirement:
- Significant experience in a senior or lead planning role within major industrial, energy, infrastructure, or EPC projects.
- Previous experience on carbon capture, power generation, process plant, petrochemical, oil & gas, or heavy industrial projects is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential.
- Strong understanding of construction execution, sequencing, and project controls principles.
- Experience working in live construction environments and managing complex stakeholder interfaces.
- Ability to interpret engineering and construction information to develop robust schedules and forecasts.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls, or related discipline preferred.
- Professional accreditation such as APM, PMI, or equivalent is advantageous.
