Our client requires an Instrument Designer who will be required to work on a staff basis in Macclesfield.

Overview

Role focuses on Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will contribute to a portfolio of projects in the pharmaceutical, power & energy, and process industries, with an emphasis on safety, quality, and delivery on time and to budget.

What You\’ll Be Doing

  • Provide expert Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services as part of the local projects team.
  • Understand customer needs, estimate resources, produce reports and designs, and ensure projects meet time, quality, and cost goals.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and coordinate with other disciplines (Mechanical, Process, HVAC, Civil) to deliver essential design deliverables.
  • Participate in the Multi-Discipline Design Team and support Project Managers to deliver pharmaceutical projects.
  • Engage in projects such as flow and pressure monitoring, PLC-based upgrades of effluent plants, and DCS upgrades of process plants.

What You\’ll Bring

  • Strong background in electrical installation design, ideally within the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Solid understanding of industry best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Qualifications such as HNC or Degree in Engineering; professional memberships are a plus.
  • Experience with ATEX Hazardous Area design, Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511), and CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD LT and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable working in multi-discipline teams and across various project stages.
