Play a key role in maintaining, improving and developing critical infrastructure, delivering innovative Civil & Structural engineering solutions across a complex industrial site.

Our Client has a requirement for a Civil & Structural Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Immingham.

Role Purpose:

  • Provide Civil & Structural engineering discipline support and technical expertise across maintenance, projects and plant improvement activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering solutions for plant upgrades and modifications.
  • Contribute to short and long-term asset strategies, ensuring infrastructure remains safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
  • Provide engineering support during maintenance activities, shutdowns and turnaround events.
  • Develop temporary works schemes and specialist engineering solutions where required.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Civil & Structural Engineering Discipline Adviser, providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Promote best practice, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering discipline.
  • Implement systems, procedures and standards to ensure engineering quality, compliance and consistency.
  • Provide discipline input across all stages of project development, including front-end development, design assurance, procurement and project execution.
  • Support the Management of Change (MOC) process by providing engineering guidance and approvals.
  • Act as a discipline approver for engineering changes managed through site change control processes.
  • Monitor changes in legislation, standards and industry requirements and ensure compliance across the site.
  • Communicate, review and implement discipline standards and engineering best practices.
  • Attend and contribute to engineering discipline meetings.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and assess future applications within the business.
  • Develop and implement survey and inspection programmes covering structures, stacks, silos, containment systems, drainage systems, pits, roads, rail infrastructure and fireproofing systems.
  • Liaise with consultants and specialist contractors to develop engineering solutions for maintenance, turnaround and project activities.
  • Work closely with plant stakeholders to develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Provide Civil & Structural engineering support for root cause investigations where required.
  • Support the development of maintenance strategies and identification of engineering risk areas.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • BEng, Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer status preferred, or actively working towards chartership.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise within Civil & Structural engineering.
  • Strong design experience across a variety of industrial engineering applications.
  • Experience using structural and civil engineering design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds, STAAD.Pro, Graitec or SAP2000.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Advance Steel and Navisworks software.
  • Experience developing and implementing temporary works solutions.
  • Experience with temporary support systems, lifting structures, scaffold support systems and excavation support solutions.
