Lead end-to-end capital engineering projects—driving safe, compliant delivery from concept to commissioning while balancing cost, risk, and stakeholder priorities. Our Client has a requirement for a Project Engineer (Electrical biased), who will be required to work on a 12 month contract basis in Leven.

Role Overview

Lead and deliver capital engineering projects from concept through to commissioning and handover, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient project execution aligned with business objectives.

Skills

  • Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and change control.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously and prioritise effectively based on business risk.
  • Sound technical engineering knowledge in a relevant discipline, with broad awareness of mechanical, electrical, civil, process, and control systems.
  • Ability to translate operational or business needs into clear technical requirements and engineering specifications.
  • Experience reviewing engineering designs, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring technical quality and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and construction compliance requirements within an industrial environment.
  • Ability to lead and promote a positive safety culture across project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify practical, compliant, and value-driven engineering solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across operators, leadership teams, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Commercial awareness, including supplier management, budget control, cost assessment, and contract administration.
  • Financial understanding to support forecasting, contingency planning, ROI, and NPV analysis.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in project documentation, reporting, and governance.
  • Ability to identify and drive continuous improvement, including better tools, templates, standards, and ways of working.
  • Good digital literacy, including Microsoft 365, MS Project, SharePoint, SAP DEP, and familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Personal strengths including communication, teamwork, resilience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to delivery.

Education

  • Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering. Other relevant engineering disciplines will also be considered.
  • HND/HNC in a relevant engineering discipline, combined with suitable practical experience, will also be considered.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards chartership, is desirable but not essential.
  • Project Management qualification such as APM PMQ (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards this, is desirable.
  • NEBOSH Certificate, or similar health and safety qualification, is desirable.
