New Job Opportunity - 6 Month Contract - Reading

Location: Aldermaston, Reading

Contract Length: Initially 6 Months

Rate: Negotiable (travel paid for if travelling over 30 miles)

Requirements: 11 shifts on, 3 shifts off starts off as day shift role then to a nightshift role later down the line

Main Purpose

The role exists to develop and implement site commissioning arrangements across all aspects of site activities (e.g. Installation, Commissioning and Handover) in support of the overall project lifecycle. The Commissioning Technician is responsible for ensuring that activities on the MENSA Project are undertaken in line with approved procedures as directed by the Commissioning Manager (or delegate), and for reporting any technical or safety issues to their supervisor. The role also includes undertaking specific activities on behalf of the Commissioning function as required, including installation activities where necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the Commissioning Quality Management System, ensuring correct application of procedures, codes and standards.
  • Provide functional input to Commissioning deliverables.
  • Accurately report job status to the Commissioning Manager (or delegate).
  • Input and maintain Commissioning documentation, including Test Documentation and Commissioning Reservations.
  • Follow Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and report any safety concerns.
  • Execute commissioning tests in line with the project schedule.
  • Complete all commissioning execution records and control raw data associated with tests performed.
  • Contribute to the compilation and review of Commissioning LTQR packages.
  • Support safe site operations, including use of ESH Focus Cards.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Recognised Level 3 qualification in a related engineering or construction discipline.
  • IOSH Working Safely, IOSH Managing Safely or CCNSG Safety Passport.
  • Electrical commissioning experience.
  • CSCS-affiliated card.

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Previous site commissioning experience (preferably nuclear).
  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (Electrical).
  • Level 3 in Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations.
  • Knowledge of loop testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings.
