Role Overview
The ICA Engineer is required to assist with close out the immediate observations and faults being identified through the commissioning process but also as the longer term technical support.
Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Reviewing and commenting on contractor’s technical electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) designs and inspection and test plan deliverables.
- Ensuring that deliverables comply with applicable policies, strategies, standards and procedures within scope and quality expectations.
- Undertaking NEC supervisor duties for EICA factory inspections, factory acceptance testing, site installation and site acceptance testing activities.
- Liaising and coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, including participating in meetings and workshops.
- Providing general technical support to the MEICA Discipline Lead, including supporting the application of best practice, finding solutions to challenges and participating in quality improvements.
- Mitigating engineering risks with a thorough understanding of responsibilities under the CDM regulations (2007).
- Complying with Health, Safety, Security and Environment policies and standards to maintain a safe and secure workplace.
Qualifications
A recognized qualification or formal training in electrical/electronic/communication engineering (a relevant degree is considered desirable but not essential and other qualifications such as HNC or NVQs with relevant experience will be considered).
Required Experience
- Design, factory testing, site installation and commissioning experience for contemporary communication, control systems and instrumentation including networking technologies (field bus, Profibus etc), fibre optic and GPRS data transmission.
- Rockwell SCADA and PLC experience, experience in the UK water industry (preferably TWUL with experience of their ICA standards), knowledge of LV electrical systems and BS7671, knowledge of WIMES.
- Experience of working within a multidiscipline design office.
