Shape the future of energy infrastructure on a flagship substation project in Chelmsford. We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team on-site. You will play a key role in ensuring the financial and commercial success of a 400kV substation project delivered under NEC 4 Option C. This is a great opportunity to work on a major infrastructure project, driving cost control, contract management, and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Management
    • Control project costs and ensure delivery within budget
    • Prepare cost forecasts and identify risks/opportunities
    • Manage subcontractor and supplier payments
  • Contract Administration
    • Administer NEC 4 Option C contract
    • Manage Compensation Events and variations
    • Maintain accurate commercial records with the Project Manager
  • Risk & Value
    • Identify and mitigate commercial risks
    • Support value engineering initiatives
  • Reporting
    • Produce CVRs, forecasts, and financial reports
    • Present cost and risk updates to stakeholders
  • Collaboration
    • Work with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
    • Support procurement and subcontractor selection

Skills & Experience

  • Essential
    • QS experience on large infrastructure projects
    • Strong NEC 4 Option C knowledge
    • Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills
    • Proficient in CEMAR and MS Excel
  • Desirable
    • Power/substation project experience
    • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
