New Job Opportunity - BIM Modeler - 12 Months Outside IR35 Contract - Aldermaston, Reading

Job Summary

This position is for a BIM Modeller Architect who will work a multi-year contract on a United Kingdom (UK) nuclear infrastructure programme for which our client are providing the Project Management and Engineering services. This project is at the conceptual design phases driving a programme involving a multi-billion-pound investment in nuclear and non-nuclear facilities. The BIM Modeller Architect will be a proactive and driven individual who will support the BIM Manager and Senior Architect as the representative for Building Information Modelling (BIM) activities. You will assist in the engineering design efforts by producing accurate models, design drawings and technical documentation while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders. In addition, you will participate in design reviews and assure comments are addressed by facilitating their resolution to the satisfaction of the reviewers for the delivery of approved products. You will have the ability to work independently, use engineering judgment and devise new approaches to solving problems. In addition, you will help others and respond to requests for help in solving technical or procedural problems or issues. You will be responsible for assisting with discipline work process execution in a technically adequate manner and in accordance with company, contract and industry codes and standards.

Major Responsibilities

  • Executes architectural deliverables according to a set of requirements and design criteria utilising approved procedures, practices and codes and standards.
  • Create, develop and manage Building Information Models in accordance with project requirements and BIM standards.
  • Create architectural plans and drawings to support facility designs to a RIBA 2-3 development.
  • Produce detailed submittals, shop drawing reviews and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate BIM models with stakeholders and internal design teams.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency and quality control of all BIM deliverables.
  • Participate in 3D Model reviews.
  • Support studies into the environmental impacts and sustainability of the proposed design / construction process.
  • Support design development by translating conceptual designs into detailed, buildable solutions.
  • Assist with clash detection, model coordination and resolution of design conflicts.
  • Maintain BIM workflows, templates and best practices.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with project stakeholders to meet deadlines and design goals.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A recognised bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant architectural and/or BIM experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (Architecture).
  • Creating a Revit template file for project usage.
  • Set up accurate site location and project coordinates using Project Base Point and Survey Point in Revit, aligned with approved survey and civil inputs.
  • Revit families (system & loadable families).
  • Project parameter setup.
  • Creation of view templates and filters.
  • Work sets and linked models.
  • Phasing and design options (basic to intermediate).
  • Support model federation and clash detection by ensuring coordinate integrity across all linked models.
  • Creation and management of Architectural schedules, Annotation elements and tags & sheet sets and title blocks.

Key Experience:

  • Linked Revit models (Structure & MEP).
  • Experience in working in CDE (Common Data Environment).
  • Understanding of file exchange formats: RVT, IFC, DWG, NWC.
  • Develop and maintain Architectural BIM models up to LOD 300 in Revit, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Adhere to BIM standards, naming conventions and data requirements defined in the BEP.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Relevant industrial experience.
  • General nuclear experience a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain SC Clearance for access to the AWE Site.

Other:

The role will be based primarily at Aldermaston, UK, however travel to our client’s London office (near Covent Garden) may also be required. Flexibility in work locations includes three days per week working at the project site and two days working from home or the London office. This arrangement will change as project needs adjust. The position is open to United Kingdom (UK) Nationals only. This position is also subject to a successful interview and agreement upon terms and conditions of employment.
