Lead complex engineering projects from concept to completion and make a real impact in a highly regulated environment. Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Project Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract or permanent basis in Barking.
Role Purpose: Manage the design, construction, commissioning and handover of engineering projects. Ensure project delivery is achieved safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. Coordinate design, commercial, construction and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle. Support the Project Manager in achieving programme, quality, health and safety, and client satisfaction objectives. Drive innovation, continuous improvement and effective risk management across projects.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage and maintain construction programmes to ensure key milestones are achieved.
- Lead collaborative planning sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and manage tender invitations, evaluate submissions and provide award recommendations.
- Coordinate procurement activities and issue requisitions to supply chain partners.
- Provide technical coordination between design teams, contractors and suppliers.
- Manage site teams and ensure issues are resolved or escalated appropriately.
- Review invoices and identify any discrepancies prior to approval.
- Promote innovative solutions and improved working practices to enhance safety, efficiency and commercial performance.
- Maintain project risk registers and provide regular updates on risks, opportunities and mitigation measures.
- Attend and contribute to project, health & safety, progress and coordination meetings.
- Support the reporting and investigation of incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
- Prepare project start-up documentation and maintain project records and systems.
- Work closely with commercial teams to monitor costs, commitments and project forecasts.
- Lead design coordination and liaison meetings.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation and company procedures.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Demonstrable project management experience within an engineering or construction environment.
- Experience delivering projects under NEC3 contracts.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction, engineering or related discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
- Experience delivering engineering projects from design through to completion.
- Proven ability to manage project programmes, targets and deadlines.
- Mechanical engineering background or bias.
- Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Knowledge of chemical dosing systems and processes.
- Strong contract management, governance and budget control skills.
- Experience in risk, opportunity and change management.
- Knowledge of procurement, stakeholder management and resource planning.
- Strong quality management and digital delivery capabilities.
- Ability to lead teams, coach colleagues and build collaborative relationships.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
- APMP or equivalent project management qualification desirable.
- Experience using Primavera P6 desirable.
- Experience within highly regulated industries desirable.
