First Point Group is recruiting for an IMS Core Engineer on behalf of a global telecommunications technology provider. The successful candidate must have strong expertise in IMS technologies, end-to-end testing and troubleshooting, and deep knowledge of 4G/5G core networks. PLEASE NOTE β sponsorship cannot be provided. Candidates must live in the UK with valid rights to work.
The opportunity: You will act as a technical subject matter expert in IMS with a strong analytical approach to troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and end-to-end (E2E) testing. The role involves defining and executing comprehensive test strategies, supporting client and application validation, and working closely with R&D, customers, and third parties to ensure high-quality IMS solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provide solution expertise and guidance for IMS client and application test strategies and test plans across all network elements and software releases.
- Execute functional, performance, accessibility, and compatibility test plans.
- Accurately track and report test progress against defined project timelines and milestones.
- Validate all supporting test cases, upgrade procedures, troubleshooting guides, and product documentation to ensure consistent test execution.
- Perform deep-dive analytics and fault investigations on feature and performance test cases, delivering resolutions within agreed SLAs.
- Provide continuous feedback and recommendations on training and development plans for yourself and other test engineers.
- Execute IMS client porting and verification testing, gathering R&D inputs to meet Sandbox exit criteria.
- Create and maintain test execution reports, performance logs, and progress documentation.
- Manage the full lifecycle of trouble tickets through to successful resolution, ensuring complete and accurate information is provided to R&D teams.
- Provide technical support for all Sandbox testing, including analysis, feedback, and log provision to third parties for solution development or system integration.
Required skills and experience:
- Strong background in 4G/5G Core technologies, particularly Voice, Video, and Data services.
- Extensive expertise in IMS client applications and SDK solutions across Android (GMS, Non-GMS, Android Go), iOS, Linux, and Windows platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of LTE testing tools, including:
- Wireshark and system log analysis (SIP, RTP, RTCP, Diameter)
- Load and performance testing tools (IXIA, Viavi, Spirent)
- XCAL, XCAP, QXDM
- Jira, HPQC, Logcat, Putty
