Senior Electrical Engineer

FPG is partnering with a leading global operator to strengthen its UK technical operations team with an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer in Dagenham.

This is a key technical appointment, acting as the primary Electrical Subject Matter Expert for a highly resilient, mission‑critical facility.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to influence the design, performance and operational reliability of large‑scale electrical infrastructure, working across HV/LV systems, UPS, standby generation and advanced control systems. You will play an essential role in ensuring 24/7 availability, compliance, and continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead as the Electrical SME across operations, construction, testing and commissioning
• Maintain and optimise electrical assets: HV/LV, UPS, generators, BMS/EMS
• Conduct structured inspections, audits, performance analysis and reporting
• Review and evolve commissioning methodologies, including subcontractor oversight
• Support technical operations standards and energy‑efficiency strategies
• Participate in lessons‑learned reviews and stakeholder performance meetings
• Provide project management input for planning, costing and contractor coordination

Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience in a critical electrical environment (data centres preferred)
• Strong technical understanding of large‑scale electrical systems
• Proven HV/LV switching experience (essential)
• Knowledge of discrimination, short‑circuit and arc‑flash studies (advantageous)
• Experience developing SOPs/EOPs and operational governance frameworks
• Comfortable collaborating in multinational technical teams
• Able to pass BS7858 or equivalent security checks
