Role Overview
First Point Group is recruiting for a Senior RAN Optimisation Engineer (4G/5G Ericsson) on behalf of a leading mobile telecommunications organisation.
The successful candidate must have strong Ericsson LTE/Vo LTE/5G expertise, advanced RAN optimisation experience, and hands‑on drive‑test / L3 analysis capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Analyse 4G LTE, Vo LTE, 5G NSA, 5G SA and Vo NR network performance using KPIs, drive‑test data and network performance statistics.
- Deliver optimisation recommendations and improvement plans to enhance customer experience, coverage, capacity and network quality.
- Design, prepare and implement Ericsson radio optimisation trials and performance enhancement initiatives.
- Evaluate and introduce new Ericsson radio features and technologies to improve network performance and customer experience.
- Conduct detailed analysis of customer experience KPIs, failure causes, signalling procedures and protocol traces to identify root causes of network issues.
- Perform advanced Layer‑3 drive‑test analysis and analyse Wireshark traces and network signalling procedures to troubleshoot end‑to‑end performance issues.
- Assess competitor network capabilities, deployments and architectures to support long‑term network strategy development.
- Collaborate with Core Network, Transmission and Design teams to ensure end‑to‑end service performance objectives are achieved.
- Produce technical reports, recommendations and optimisation strategies for stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across 4G, 5G and future network technologies.
- Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience working within a Mobile Network Operator, Vendor or Telecommunications Consultancy environment.
- Strong hands‑on experience optimising Ericsson LTE, Vo LTE and 5G radio networks.
- Proven experience improving coverage, quality, capacity and customer experience KPIs.
- Deep understanding of Ericsson RAN architecture, features and optimisation methodology.
- Experience supporting 5G NSA, 5G SA and Vo NR deployments and optimisation activities.
- Strong knowledge of 3GPP standards, specifications and mobile network functionality.
- Experience working with Core Network and Transmission teams to resolve end‑to‑end service issues.
- Ability to evaluate new radio features and technologies and assess performance impacts.
- Technical Skills
- Vo NR, RAN Optimisation, Performance Tuning & Feature Implementation – Coverage, Capacity, Quality & Customer Experience Improvement.
- Wireshark & Protocol Trace Analysis – End‑to‑end performance optimisation across RAN, Core & Transmission networks.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
