A leading global data centre operator is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their EMEA engineering team. This is a key role responsible for the performance, reliability, and efficiency of cooling and mechanical infrastructure across a significant European data centre portfolio. The successful candidate will take ownership of mechanical system optimisation, support incident response and investigation, carry out design reviews for complex infrastructure, and help define engineering standards across multiple international sites. The role is UK-based with regular travel to facilities across mainland Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving the performance and efficiency of mechanical and cooling systems across the region
- Supporting incident management and leading root cause investigations
- Reviewing and approving technical changes and infrastructure designs
- Contributing to energy efficiency initiatives and improvement projects
- Delivering training and knowledge sharing to regional site teams
- Carrying out facility inspections and supporting operational audits
Requirements
- Several years of experience working with HVAC and cooling systems in mission-critical or high-availability environments
- HVAC qualification for the region
- Demonstrable experience in technical leadership and stakeholder management
- Strong understanding of operational and maintenance governance principles
- Familiarity with PDCA and Root Cause Analysis frameworks is highly desirable
- A recognised Health and Safety qualification is highly desirable
- Data centre experience is a significant advantage
