First Point Group have 3 IP Network Engineer opportunities on a project with a global technology services & solutions company. The successful candidate must have experience of Cisco Catalyst, Nexus and VMware NSX Firewalls. This is an inside IR35 contract (extendable) and suits someone immediately available that is looking for an immediate start. The role is deployment-centric and requires hands-on expertise in enterprise routing and switching technologies, so strong exposure to Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and VMware NSX Distributed Firewall implementations is required. This opportunity requires an initial 5-days on-site in Manchester for initial onboarding and deployment which will turn into hybrid-working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret designs to deploy, implement, and support IP network infrastructure across enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on configuration and deployment of Routing & Switching using Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms.
  • Execute VMware NSX deployments including Distributed Firewall configuration.
  • Support onsite implementation, migrations, and network cutovers.
  • Troubleshoot complex LAN, DC, and virtualized networking issues.
  • Participate in conceptual discussions on DNS and SD-WAN technologies.

Mandatory Technical Skills

  • Routing & Switching – Enhanced level (minimum 5 years hands-on experience) Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms.
  • VMware NSX and Distributed Firewall – 1–2 years deployment/implementation experience.
  • Conceptual exposure to DNS and SD-WAN.

Experience & Profile Requirements

  • Overall experience starting from 5 years in pure deployment roles.
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in onsite customer environments.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in large enterprise or global infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL-based operational processes.
  • Cisco or VMware certifications (preferred).
