First Point Group is recruiting for an IMS Test Engineer on behalf of a global telecommunications technology provider delivering advanced 4G and 5G network solutions across Europe. The successful candidate must have strong expertise in IMS and 4G/5G core technologies, experience testing client applications across multiple operating systems, and advanced LTE testing and troubleshooting skills using tools such as Wireshark, IXIA, Viavi or Spirent.

PLEASE NOTE - sponsorship cannot be provided. Candidates must live in the UK with valid rights to work including 5+ years of current continuous residence in the UK due to SC Security Clearance required upon joining.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly specialised test and certification team focused on delivering next-generation communication solutions across telecom and public service networks. The team is responsible for validating the performance, reliability, and availability of advanced solutions spanning device clients, RAN, and core network environments. You will work closely with highly skilled engineers locally and internationally to ensure solutions meet customer expectations, contractual milestones and service level agreements.

Responsibilities
  • You will act as a technical expert in IMS, applying a strong analytical approach to troubleshooting, root cause analysis and end-to-end testing.
  • Provide solution expertise and guidance for IMS Client and IMS Application test strategies and test plans across all network elements and software releases.
  • Execute functional, performance, accessibility and compatibility testing.
  • Track and report test progress against defined project timelines and objectives.
  • Validate supporting test cases, upgrade procedures, troubleshooting guides and product documentation to ensure consistent test execution.
  • Perform deep-dive analytics and fault investigations across feature and performance test cases, delivering resolutions within SLAs.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on training and development plans for yourself and other test engineers.
  • Execute client porting and verification testing, ensuring R&D inputs are captured to support development milestones.
  • Produce test execution reports, performance logs and analysis documentation.
  • Manage the lifecycle of trouble tickets, ensuring detailed information is captured for R&D investigation and resolution.
  • Provide technical support for sandbox testing environments, including analysis and logs for third-party integrations and solution development.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Strong background knowledge of 4G/5G Core technologies, particularly voice, video and data services.
  • Experience working with IMS client applications and SDK solutions across Android (GMS, Non-GMS and Android Go), iOS, Linux and Windows.
  • Hands-on experience with LTE testing tools and protocol analysis, including Wireshark, SIP, RTP, RTCP, Diameter, IXIA, Viavi, Spirent, XCAL, XCAP, QXDM, Jira, HPQC and Logcat/Putty.
  • Experience with software lifecycle testing for VNF architecture deployments on VMware.
  • Knowledge of client software deployment methods such as OTA and EMM.
  • Expertise in end-to-end troubleshooting across LTE and TETRA networks and call flows.
  • Strong understanding of 3GPP specifications and telecom service architecture.
  • Ability to maintain high standards while working in fast-paced and dynamic environments.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications or a related field.
