Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Voice Systems Engineer to lead the transformation of our enterprise voice infrastructure, driving the migration from legacy telephony platforms to modern cloud-based communication solutions, including Microsoft Teams Telephony and Cisco Webex. This role requires a highly capable technical specialist who can quickly assess the existing environment, provide strategic guidance, and act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and technology partners. The successful candidate will play a key role in both the ongoing support of the current voice estate and the delivery of future-state communication services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of enterprise telephony services from legacy platforms to Microsoft Teams Voice and Cisco Webex solutions.
  • Design, implement, support, and optimise enterprise voice and unified communications environments.
  • Provide technical leadership and consultancy across voice transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with vendors, including Microsoft and Cisco, to ensure successful solution delivery and service optimisation.
  • Support and modernise existing voice infrastructure while ensuring service continuity.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to stakeholders across the organisation.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • Extensive experience within large-scale enterprise IT environments, with a strong background in systems design, implementation, and administration.
  • Proven hands-on expertise with Microsoft Teams Telephony, including:
    • Direct Routing
    • Calling Plans
    • Microsoft 365 Voice Integration
  • Experience configuring and supporting Cisco Webex Contact Centre or comparable cloud contact centre platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Session Border Controllers (SBCs), including technologies such as:
    • Cisco CUBE
    • AudioCodes
    • Equivalent SBC platforms
  • Solid understanding of VoIP technologies and protocols, including:
    • SIP
    • RTP / SRTP
    • DTMF
    • Dial Plan Design
  • Experience with PSTN connectivity, number porting, and telephony regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of voice security best practices, including:
    • SBC hardening
    • Toll fraud prevention
    • Encryption and secure communications
