First Point Group is recruiting for an Electronic Hardware Design Engineer with PCB & Python experience. Our client is an expanding software and technology company that is pioneering sustainable energy solutions through innovative IoT systems. IoT experience is NOT required, so it's a fantastic chance to start designing IoT devices. The successful candidate must have strong experience in embedded microcontroller design, digital and analogue circuit design, and a track record of bringing hardware products to life (through the hardware design lifecycle - design, prototyping, testing and manufacturing). Candidates without PCB experience will not be considered and will ideally have 4-10 years' experience.

As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will lead the technical delivery of their next-generation IoT devices. These devices operate in tandem with cloud-based applications, and you’ll play a key role in every stage of the product lifecycle—from specification and architecture to prototyping, production, and support. This role is ideal for a seasoned Intermediate Engineer ready to step up, or someone newly established at Senior level, looking to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop advanced IoT hardware devices that integrate with cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with Embedded Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Manufacturing teams.
- Deliver hardware solutions that meet performance, cost, regulatory, and reliability benchmarks.
- Participate in real-world deployments and work with third-party hardware systems.
- Engage in full lifecycle development: requirements, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, regulatory compliance, and production.
- Write manufacturing test software and contribute to embedded firmware development when time allows.
Essential Requirements:
- 4+ years of professional hardware device development experience.
- Hands-on experience with embedded microcontroller design, digital and analogue circuit design, and wired/wireless communications.
- Proficient in schematic capture, PCB layout, and prototype debugging.
- Experience with EMC and safety regulatory compliance.
- Proven collaboration with manufacturing partners and test solution development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; fluent written and spoken English.
- Empathy, adaptability, and composure in a scale-up environment.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Python, C, Linux, and board bring-up software.
- Familiarity with the KiCad design suite.
- Demonstrated interest and experience in IoT device design.
