First Point Group is recruiting for a Technical Project Manager (optical transmission delivery) on behalf of a leading telecoms infrastructure services provider. The successful candidate must have worked within hyperscaler / data centre environments, have strong experience in optical transmission delivery, and multi-vendor project management.
This is a contract role offering an immediate start (within 2-4 weeks after formal offer) and fully remote once you are embedded within the team (after 2-3 days/week in the office for onboarding initially). Candidates must live in the UK with valid rights to work.

You will be responsible for managing multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards, while acting as the key interface between internal teams, external vendors, and customers.
Responsibilities- Deliver multiple optical transmission projects across EMEA, ensuring alignment to agreed time, cost, and quality objectives
- Act as the single point of contact for assigned projects, managing stakeholder communication and issue resolution
- Develop and maintain Project Management Plans, including schedules, resources, risks, and dependencies
- Monitor project performance against baseline plans and implement corrective actions where required
- Manage multi-vendor environments, including OEMs, service partners, and third-party suppliers
- Support bid and sales activities, contributing to quotations and project planning
- Produce regular project reporting, including KPIs, milestones, forecasts, and financial tracking
- Ensure project governance and documentation is maintained in line with company standards
- Lead internal and external project review meetings and ensure clear communication of progress
- Manage customer relationships, ensuring expectations are met and satisfaction is maintained throughout delivery
- Oversee project financials, including cost control, revenue tracking, forecasting, and billing
- Identify and manage technical and delivery risks, implementing mitigation and escalation where required
- Coordinate procurement activities, ensuring timely ordering and supplier alignment
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality) standards
- Proven experience delivering optical transmission / fibre network projects (e.g. DWDM, long-haul, metro networks)
- Experience working in a hyperscaler or data centre-driven environment
- Strong background in end-to-end project delivery within telecoms or network infrastructure
- Experience managing multiple vendors and cross-functional teams
- Solid understanding of project financials, including cost control and forecasting
- Excellent stakeholder and customer management skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-country delivery environment
- Experience working with hyperscalers such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
- Background in organisations such as Zayo, euNetworks, or Equinix
- Familiarity with structured project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP)
