First People Solutions is currently seeking a Technical Director with a strong background in Building Structures to join a leading consulting engineer. In this role, you will serve as the technical lead on a range of projects, oversee and mentor a team of Engineers and Technicians, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary design teams. You will also play a key role in client engagement and business development initiatives.

This position presents an excellent opportunity to provide technical leadership in specialist blast-resistant structural design, oversee the delivery of industrial projects from concept through to detailed design, and work alongside other department heads to drive business growth, strengthen client relationships, and contribute meaningfully to the overall success of the company.

This position can be based in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Liverpool, offering flexibility for the right candidate.

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • Hold a degree in Structural Engineering and be chartered (IStructE or ICE), with significant experience working in a UK-based design engineering consultancy.
  • Expertise in blast-resistant design and assessment.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of common building structures.
