Paediatric Complex Care Healthcare Assistant Colchester

First Option Healthcare is recruiting a compassionate and proactive Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to provide one-to-one support to a young female with complex medical needs in her home. Package Overview

  • Shifts: Wednesday 07:00-16:00 & Sunday 07:00-15:00 (additional shifts may be available for cover during leave/sickness)

About the Service User

You will support a young female with complex medical needs. Care is delivered 1:1, and responsibilities include escorting her in a taxi to school while carrying essential care equipment.

Key clinical requirements include:

  • Tracheostomy tube (essential)
  • Ventilated via ASTRAL 150
  • Cough assist
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Hoisting / wheelchair-dependent
  • PEG feeding

Required Skills & Experience

We are looking for an experienced HCA / Carer with a background in paediatric complex care, including:

  • Tracheostomy care (essential)
  • Suctioning
  • Non-invasive ventilation (BIPAP / ventilators)
  • Cough assist and oxygen management
  • Enteral feeding (PEG)
  • Hoisting and personal care
  • Experience working 1:1 with children with complex medical needs

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Using and managing complex care equipment and procedures safely
  • Supporting the child outside of the home (e.g., school, medical appointments)
  • Delivering care in the home and building rapport with the child and family
  • Following care plans closely and escalating changes or concerns promptly
