Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a HVAC Service Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The work includes air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical systems such as splits, VRVs, chillers, AHUs, LTHW and chilled water.
  • Mostly routine PPM but also reactive repairs and planned works.
  • Service engineers are not typically required to carry out installation works.
  • Working hours are door to door minus 1.5 hours (half an hour unpaid each way travel, and half an hour unpaid lunch). Minimum day door to door is 9.5 hours.
  • Overtime is paid at time and a half, or double time for nights/bank holidays. Overtime is expected of our engineers and some Saturdays may be required but are not often. Nights are a possibility but are not often. Adequate rest is given.
  • On-call rota is 1 week every 8 weeks approximately. This is paid at £125 for the week regardless of any call outs. Minimum call-out is paid x4 hours.
  • All specialist refrigeration tools are supplied, but hand tools are the responsibility of the candidate. Hand tools to be supplied by the candidate, we expect the general tool bag to include a thermometer and multi-meter with amp clamp.
  • Drugs and alcohol screening plus railway medical is required before any official job offer.
  • A large amount of our work is on railway contracts. Training and competencies will be provided for working on the railway. These are essential. The sites include signal centres, data centres, maintenance depots, train care depots, stations, remote relay rooms trackside.

Skills and Qualifications:

This role requires an air conditioning engineer with a minimum of City and Guilds NVQ level 2/part 2, plus F-GAS. Other competencies such as PASMA & IPAF are an advantage.
