First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior / Principal Structural Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform structural design calculations for steel, concrete, timber and masonry following British Standards / Euro Codes.
- Adhere to internal QMS procedures ensuring compliance with internal design checking protocols.
- Coordinate with professionals and contractors, manage time for timely project delivery.
- Work independently on smaller projects or as part of a team on larger schemes.
- Ensure commercial delivery of projects, meeting deadlines and budgets.
- Collaborate with other consulting offices and disciplines.
- Supervise trial hole investigations for refurbishment projects and undertake visual structural inspections.
- Mentor Junior Engineers.
- Liaise with clients and design team members to meet client briefs, attending meetings as required.
- Contribute to fee proposals and tender submissions.
- Assist in project management, ensuring commercial delivery, meeting timescales and budgets.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Completion of Degree in relevant engineering subject.
- Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience working in similar engineering consultancy.
- Chartered or working towards and close to achieving membership of relevant professional institution (e.g., Chartered Member of ICE or IStructE).
- Solid knowledge of all relevant British Standards and Design Codes.
- Ability to produce designs underpinned by strong engineering principles.
- Proficient in technical design packages such as Tekla, CADS and Tedds.
- Proficient in AutoCAD would be a bonus.
- Possess a full driving licence and have access to a car for business use.
