A leading international engineering and construction company is seeking a Senior Estimator to support the delivery of technically complex design and build projects across the Food, Pharmaceutical, Logistics, Data Centre, and Advanced Manufacturing sectors.
This role will be based at the company’s Head Office in Gerrards Cross for an initial period of 1 to 3 months to provide comprehensive onboarding and ensure alignment with internal processes. After this induction period, the successful candidate may be based in either Leeds or Birmingham, depending on personal and business requirements.
Candidates from an ex-military background are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those with experience in technical or engineering roles. However, all qualified candidates will be fully considered based on skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and assess tender documentation
- Demonstrate strong technical understanding of Mechanical & Electrical systems
- Prepare and issue enquiries for materials and subcontractors
- Identify and engage with suitable subcontractors for pricing
- Attend strategy and opportunity meetings with the project team
- Conduct site visits to assess location-specific risks and constraints
- Collaborate with design teams and contribute to design development
- Prepare tender Bills of Quantities and detailed cost estimates
- Produce budgets and cost plans based on early-stage design information
- Assess and compare subcontractor quotations
- Raise technical queries and ensure clarity of scope for accurate pricing
- Maintain and manage a tender Risk Register
- Contribute to value engineering efforts during the design phase
- Present tenders to senior management, highlighting key commercial risks
- Prepare and submit comprehensive tender documentation
- Support a smooth and accurate handover to delivery and construction teams
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification
- Significant experience in estimating, quantity surveying, or commercial construction roles
- Strong working knowledge of MEP and HVAC systems, especially in regulated environments such as pharmaceutical or cleanroom projects
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
