Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Project Manager on behalf of one of our clients. Due to continued growth and several exciting project awards, our client is looking to employ an experienced Marine Civil Engineer/Project Manager to assist with future tendering and delivery of upcoming projects. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of tenders, working with a wider bid team, Project Managers, Commercial Director and other key team members as required to identify solutions including innovation opportunities as part of overall tender submission.
- Undertake detailed tender pricing and risk review.
- Attend pre-tender site visits and client meetings.
- Prepare detailed pre-construction documentation for tender stage and following contract award including compliance with Principal Contractor / Contractor duties under CDM Regs 2015.
- Write project delivery programmes in accordance with project contractual requirements identifying risk and opportunities and ensuring all activities are adequately resourced.
- Oversee projects on site in a client-facing role, attending progress and commercial meetings as required throughout the delivery phase.
- Maintain a site presence through construction, checking on quality and preparing quality records.
- Prepare, in partnership with others, project cost monitoring reports and projected outturn costs including the timely development and submission of valuations.
- Manage projects to ensure adherence to all commercial and contractual requirements.
- Work with Site Managers to identify and manage opportunities for improved financial performance and change.
- Prepare early warnings and compensation events.
- Ensure adherence with all company safety and legal requirements.
- Provide and demonstrate safety leadership throughout the project life cycle.
- Assist with carrying out site audits and work with compliance team to prove compliance with company policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the safe undertaking of civil engineering works in a marine environment and the unique challenges this environment poses.
- Have a working understanding of the CDM Regs.
- Experience of working with diving teams is desirable but not essential.
- Microsoft Project experience is desirable.
- Experience of working under NEC3/4 contracts is desirable.
- The successful candidate will work from the head office near Cardiff, but there will be flexibility for part remote/hybrid working for the right person.
- You will need to be happy to travel and work away on sites as projects need.
